Thank you very much for your remarks, Michael. It's tremendously gratifying to hear from someone who shares my love of the central city, especially someone whose knowledge of the neighborhood is as intimate as your own. I've visited your blog several times, and have always been impressed by your writing and moved by your ongoing story.

In five or ten years, much of the Mid-Market corridor will be unrecognizable. Although most of the buildings that are part of the Theater and Loft Historic District will certainly remain, the St. Francis theater and storefronts will be replaced by the five-story CityPlace shopping mall, and the buildings on the opposite side of Market Street will most likely be torn down as well. As put forth by Mid-Market property owners, developers, and the planning department, the general plan is to revitalize Mid-Market by turning it into a theater and arts district. Make that "theater, arts, and shopping district," if you take into account the elephant in the room called CityPlace.

I'll write more in an email later today, Michael. Thank you for opening the door to further communication. I look forward to meeting you.

I have posted a link to your site on my blog. I am in awe of the work you have put into creating this site. Every time I walk with others through the Tenderloin, I recite what I have learned about the buildings from you site. I have mourned the death of Mid-Market and its environs since I have lived here. I fear a day in the near future that all evidence of what was once great will be gone.
If there is any way I can become involved in advocating for the preservation of the land, please contact me.

With love,
Michael Thomas Angelo

Thanks very much, Robert. Glad you enjoyed the presentation.

Thanks, too, for your kind wishes; although at this time I can't say when I'll be able to resolve my technical problems.

Mark,

I caught you at the Cadillac a couple of weeks ago. Thank you for an excellent presentation, and for paying attention to so many things that are subtly ignored into near invisibility. Just now took the opportunity to look at your website, and must thank you again for the focus of your work and for your amazing eye. Your perspective is essential and your gift is formidable. I agree with Susan's comment and applaud your survival. I see that your technical obstacles persist. I hope things resolve themselves quickly, as I look forward to staying tuned for more of your lovely work. All the best to you. Bob
